Social media privacy notice
What happens when you watch or interact with us on a platform — as opposed to on this website.
In short
We publish short videos on social platforms. We do not track you and we build no profile of you — we run no tracking of our own, set no cookies of our own, and hold no list of who watched what. What we do use is the aggregated statistics each platform makes available to account operators, described below. The platforms themselves process your data when you use them, and in some cases they say they do so jointly with us. This page sets out what we know, including where the law is unsettled.
This is separate from the privacy policy for this website, which covers a much smaller surface: this site has no accounts, no forms and no cookies.

Each platform takes a different legal position. We state each one rather than averaging them:
Instagram (Meta) · @onehonestfix
Meta provides a joint-controller addendum for Page Insights. Meta has not published a clear statement on whether it extends to Instagram professional accounts. We have found no authoritative resolution either way, so we treat it as applying and link it here rather than rely on it not applying.
TikTok · @onehonestfix
TikTok states that it and the account holder jointly determine the means and purposes of processing engagement data, limited to its creation, collection and aggregation into TikTok Analytics.
YouTube (Google) · @onehonestfix
Google offers no joint-controller arrangement for channel operators and positions itself as sole controller for platform processing. We state this plainly rather than imply an arrangement exists.

What the platforms process
When you view or interact with our content, the platform may process data including your interactions (views, likes, comments, shares, follows), device and app information, approximate location, and — if you have an account — data associated with it. The platform uses this for its own purposes, including personalisation and advertising, which we neither control nor receive. Some platforms make aggregated, non-identifying statistics available to us.
We do use the aggregated statistics each platform provides — reach, views, watch time, follows and similar — to understand which topics are worth making and whether the format works. These are counts and averages produced by the platform. We do not receive, and cannot access, data identifying individual viewers, and we do not build audience segments or use the platforms' targeting tools.
Please don't send us health details
Comments and direct messages on these platforms are not a private or secure channel, and they are not a consultation. Please do not send us your medical history, a diagnosis, test results, medication details or anything similar — not in a comment, not in a message. We cannot advise on an individual case, and health data is the most sensitive category the GDPR recognises (Art. 9). If you send it anyway we will not use it for anything, and we will delete it where the platform lets us. For anything about your own health, please speak to a doctor or pharmacist.

Legal basis and joint controllership
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in communicating publicly about health research. You can object at any time (Art. 21 GDPR).
Where a platform provides a joint-controller arrangement under Art. 26 GDPR, it is linked above, and it governs the division of responsibility for the statistics that platform generates. The essence is the same in each case: the platform performs the processing and determines its own purposes; our role is limited to operating a profile and, where offered, viewing aggregated statistics.
We note openly that whether a channel operator is a joint controller at all is unsettled in Germany. It has been decided by a court only for Facebook Pages, and a 2025 judgment reached the opposite conclusion where the operator had no control over statistics. We publish this notice because you are entitled to the information either way, not because the question is resolved.
Your rights
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and may complain to a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
For data the platform holds, exercise those rights with the platform — it holds the data and we do not. We will forward any request we receive and help where we can.
Comments and messages
If you comment or message us, the platform processes that content and we can read it. We use it only to reply and to understand which questions come up often. We do not export it, build profiles from it, or use it for advertising.
